Youth Education, Employment and Training Hub

Between August and December 2020 Swindon Borough Council piloted a Youth Education, Employment and Training (YEET) Hub. The aim of the pilot was to support the development of a ‘one stop shop’ aimed at supporting young people aged 16-25 who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) or at risk of becoming NEET.

A number of partners were involved in the pilot including Swindon Borough Council Supported Employment Service, National Careers Service, Stonewater and local education and training providers.

The pilot offered a range of in person and remote support, advice and guidance including the launch of the Swindon Local Offer - Pathways into employment and Stepping Stones to Employment model in October 2020.

COVID impacted heavily on the ability to offer face-face appointments at the Hub and so, following evaluation of the initial pilot, we have decided to extend the pilot. As restrictions are lifted we aim to start offering appointments only initially and hope to be able to provide a drop in service once restrictions allow.

We hope to be able to start offering appointments at the Hub, which you will find on Bath Road in Old Town next to The Foyer from mid to late May. Initially you can book face-face appointments directly with the service provider using the following means of contact:

Swindon Borough Council Supported Employment Service
Tel: 01793 464770

National Careers Service
Tel: 0800 100 900

The pilot will run over the summer period to support young people who are undecided about their next steps.

A further review of the extended pilot will be undertaken at the end of the summer with a view to learning from it and developing a more sustainable and inclusive Hub moving forwards.
