Early Help and Early SEND Support

To achieve our shared ambition for a more holistic approach to identifying children and young people’s needs at the earliest point, and building upon the existing good practice within Swindon, we want to ensure that we are able to support you to intervene at the earliest point of identification. As such, we are integrating Early Help and Early SEND support.

Previously you have been able to make applications to the Statutory SEND Service to access high needs funding for short term interventions, for anything between 3 months to a year. This is no longer the case.

Settings are now asked to refer children and young people to the Early Help and Early SEND Support triage process by securely sending the Early Help Assessment to the Early Help Hub.

You should evidence the graduated response, including any relevant assessments and evidence of how you have used the element 2 delegated funding (for Schools only) to support the child or young person via the Early Help Assessment and Plan.

Early Years Inclusion budget will also be awarded via this new process alongside holistic Early Help provision.

The following attachments provide guidance on how to apply and the scheme of delegation provides a breakdown of the resources that can be allocated.
