Children’s Occupational Therapy: Doing well
The Spark programme was developed by the health occupational therapy service to be carried out by education staff to develop sensory-motor skills, necessary for more complex gross and fine motor skills required to access the curriculum.
‘Sparkey’ is an advice pack for the pre-school population to develop early sensory-motor skills and self-care skills.
Health Occupational Therapy run courses for education staff covering the following area:
- Understanding sensory processing difficulties and its impact on accessing the curriculum
- Developing fine motor skills
- Implementing the ‘Spark’ programme, to develop gross motor skills.
There are a number of advice leaflets produced by the health occupational therapy service on the local offer to support the development of motor and self-care skills.
